This author wanted his headshot not only to represent him, but his writing: a little dark, a little humorous. He wasn’t pleased at having the camera turned on him — usually he’s the observer, not the subject — but his publisher (as most do) insisted. After all, as reported by The Daily Beast, the author photo is a valuable marketing and booking tool. As we chatted about his work, I began to shoot. The dark backdrop, which might be too dramatic for some clients’ needs, enhanced the whole feel.
